Stephen Newton
Joint Managing Director

Years Industry Experience: 42

Prior to co-founding Arcadia Stephen was the CEO (Asia Pacific) of Lend Lease Real Estate Investments Limited responsible for six public and private real estate investment funds, their investment performance as well as cross border transactions and over 300 investment management staff including in Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, Korea & Hong Kong.

Over his 23 year career with Lend Lease Stephen held a series of senior executive positions in funds management, capital transactions, development management and was a Director of Lend Lease USOT Management Limited, Lend Lease Real Estate Investments Limited, Kiwi Income and Kiwi Development Trust (New Zealand) and the Asia Pacific Investment Company Pte. He was a member of the Senior Executive Group for Lend Lease Corporation.

Stephen is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics & Accounting) degree from Macquarie University and a Masters of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales. Stephen is a Non-Executive Director of the Stockland Property Group and the Chair of its Audit Committee, a Non-Executive Director of Waypoint REIT Group and the Chair of its Audit Committee, a Non-Executive Director of BAI Communications Group and a member of its Audit and Risk Committee and its Human Resources and Remuneration Committee, a Non-Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools Limited, and Chairman of the Finance Council for the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney.

 

Hamish Flett
Joint Managing Director

Years Industry Experience: 35

Prior to co-founding Arcadia Hamish was the Director / Head of Wholesale Funds Management for Lend Lease Real Estate Investments Limited responsible for over A$ 2.0 billion in real estate investment funds including over 50 institutional clients and Australia’s largest sector specialist wholesale property fund (Australian Prime Property Fund) and Lend Lease Real Estate Partners.

During his period at Lend Lease Hamish also held senior executive positions including Fund Manager of Australian Prime Property Fund (APPF) and Executive Capital Transactions responsible for acquisitions and divestments by Lend Lease managed funds (including GPT, APPF and various separate account clients). Prior to joining Lend Lease Hamish held a series of senior executive positions at Colliers International including advising institutional clients on major investment transactions and asset management assignments across Australia.

Hamish is also a Director of Grosvenor Place Pty Limited (GPPL) the internalised asset management company responsible for the management of Grosvenor Place, Sydney ($1.8 billion premium grade office complex in Sydney).

Hamish holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Land Economics (with 1st Class Honours) from the University of Technology, Sydney, was qualified as a registered Valuer in NSW (without limitation) and is an Associate of the Australian Property Institute (API). In 1993, Hamish was awarded the Tony Carpenter Award for excellence in the field of asset management from the Property Council of Australia. He also formerly chaired the Property Council of Australia (PCA) NSW Capital Markets & Research Committee (from 2002 – 2007) and was a member of the NSW Divisional Council.

 

Peter Quinlivan
Executive Director (Retail)

Years Industry Experience: 30

Peter joined Arcadia in 2003 and leads the groups focus on retail investments.

Peter’s extensive career in retail asset management, leasing and property management includes senior management roles as National Retail Director at Colliers International (previously Burnett Property Group), Retail Director Eurest Australia, Managing Director SSP Asia and General Manager of a private shopping centre company focused on CBD and tourism based assets. In the 10 years prior to involvement in the retail property sector, Peter held senior positions with Australia’s then three largest retailers. His unique experience in both operational retail as lessee and retail property as lessor has enabled Peter to develop and implement retail strategies across all forms of real estate including assets where retail is not core business such as hospitals, airports and universities.

 

Gerald Daly
Fund Manager

Years Industry Experience: 25

Gerald joined Arcadia in 2006 and is currently the Fund Manager of a private mandate investing in the office and industrial property sectors on behalf of a major Australian superannuation fund.

Prior to joining Arcadia, Gerald held a number of senior roles with Lend Lease Real Estate Investments as part of the real estate investment management platform including responsibility for the overall investment performance of a portfolio of major institutional grade assets. Gerald commenced his career as a property valuer with Knight Frank completing valuations and consulting projects in all sectors of the property market including retail, commercial office, industrial and hotels.

Gerald holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Land Economics (with Distinction) from the University of Western Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia.

 

Scott Wardlaw
Fund Manager

Years Industry Experience: 29

Scott joined Arcadia in 2011 and is the Fund Manager for the Australian Wholesale Investment Fund (AWPF), an unlisted wholesale property fund investing in the office and retail property classes on behalf of institutional clients.

Scott has 29 years of broad ranging experience in the property industry and during his career has held senior fund management and investment management roles with Stockland, Colonial First State and Principal Financial Group/BT Funds Management.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Graduate Diploma Applied Finance and is CPA qualified.

 

John Martin
Financial Controller

Industry experience: 25 years

Formerly the Chief Accounting Officer for the EDT Retail Trust, an ASX listed vehicle that had $1.4bn of US retail asset under management.

Before EDT, he was the Head of Finance for the Macquarie Group real estate funds that had over $12bn of assets under management. Prior to this John had other roles at Macquarie Group (Head of Finance for the Banking and Property Group), Commonwealth Bank (Finance Executive) and KPMG (Senior Manager). He is an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.

 

Alexander Salman
Investment Manager

Years Industry Experience: 8

Alexander joined Arcadia in 2017 and is currently responsible for the asset management of a number of office and industrial properties as well as assisting in the ongoing management of a private mandate investing on behalf of a major Australian superannuation fund.

Prior to joining Arcadia Alexander was a Senior Analyst in CBRE’s Research and Consulting team.

Alexander holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Economics with majors in Accounting, Finance and Economics from the University of New South Wales and ESADE Business School.

 

Melissa Lazarus
Trust Accountant

Years Industry Experience: 27

Melissa joined Arcadia in 2016 and is the Trust Accountant for the Australian Wholesale Investment Fund (AWPF), and unlisted wholesale property fund investing in the office and retail property classes on behalf of institutional clients.

Melissa has 27 years of broad ranging experience as Finance Manager for various businesses in the Real Estate, Construction, Business Services and Insolvency sectors. Melissa holds an Advanced Diploma of Business Management and Accounting.

 

James McGarry
Analyst

Years Industry Experience: 2

James joined Arcadia in 2021 and is currently responsible for supporting the Fund Managers with the day-to-day investment management operations of two unlisted wholesale property trusts containing office, industrial and retail assets. James also assists with certain asset management functions for selected assets.

Prior to joining Arcadia, James was an Analyst in Lendlease’s Group Research function and before that, a Graduate at JLL.

James holds a Bachelor of Business with majors in Accounting & Finance from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and is currently pursuing a Master of Real Estate Investment at UTS.

 

Brendan Howell
Non-Executive Director

Brendan has over 32 years experience in the financial services/funds management industry and was formerly an associate member of the Securities Institute of Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Australia Institute of Company Directors. Brendan has a property and accounting background and has held senior positions with a leading Australian trustee company administering listed and unlisted property trusts.

For the past 24 years, Brendan has been directly involved with MIA Services Pty Limited, a company which specialises in funds management compliance, and acts as an independent consultant and external compliance committee member for a number of property, equity, mortgage and infrastructure funds managers.

Brendan presently acts as an Independent Director for several unlisted public companies, which act as either responsible entity or trustee for direct real property and mortgages funds.

Brendan has a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Sydney and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia.

 

Graham Monk
Non-Executive Director

Graham has significant experience in property investment and development and strategic planning, mergers & acquisitions. He has accumulated financial experience across a range of blue chip companies, including Investa Property Group, Novus Petroleum, Lion Nathan, Lend Lease and CSR.

His major achievements include structuring of finance facilities and bond issues (both in the domestic and the US market). With over 40 years’ experience, Graham has been involved in a number of takeovers, including a successful $1.9 billion acquisition and one of the largest private equity transactions in Australia, as well as management of equity raisings, joint ventures and exploration, production and development of natural resources. He also has experience in development and management of major commercial property assets.

In addition to Arcadia Funds Management Limited, Graham is a Non-Executive Director of Bridge Housing Limited, a non-for-profit provider of social and affordable housing. Graham is also the Independent Chairman of the Risk and Audit Committee of AVID Property Group and held the same role at Investa Property Group between 2011 and 2016. In the past, Graham has been a director of 151 Property Core Plus Management Limited (manager of a wholesale property fund) and the Tenix Group (infrastructure project construction and maintenance).

Graham graduated from the University of NSW with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), majoring in Accounting, Finance and Systems. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and was a Councillor of the NSW Division of CPA Australia for 10 years.
